Rachel Marshall

Owner and Director

As the Director, Rachel leads the overall management, strategic direction, and operations of the setting, ensuring quality service delivery and compliance with regulations.

Rachel lives at home with her husband and has two (not so little anymore!) boys, one who is now starting his career as a paramedic and the other working as an operations director. As a family, they enjoy going out for meals and holidays together, often visiting her favourite destinations, Menorca and Filey.

With over 16 years of experience working with children in various roles, including as a pre-school manager and, most recently, as a learning support assistant at St Bartholomew’s Primary School, Rachel has developed a strong background in childcare. She holds a Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning, and Development, along with numerous training qualifications such as Safeguarding Children for Designated Safeguarding Lead, Behaviour Management, Speech and Language, Paediatric First Aid, Leadership and Management, Physical Intervention for Early Years, Mental Health and Young People, Autism Awareness, Forest School, E-Safety, Data Protection, and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging.

Rachel is passionate about providing safe and enjoyable wraparound childcare at Smiles. She looks forward to creating a fun and safe environment for all the children in the very own 'Smiles Family' to come and enjoy.

Harvey Marshall

Associate Director

As Associate Director, Harvey takes overall responsibility for the holiday club and supports behind-the-scenes operations for both the holiday club and wraparound services.

Harvey has been with Smiles since the very beginning, bringing over 6 years of experience working with children in the out-of-school sector, both at Smiles and a local holiday camp. He also supported a local pre-school setting following an 'Inadequate' Ofsted rating, helping them achieve a 'Good' rating just six months later.

Harvey held various roles at Smiles, including Playleader and Senior Leader, before leaving in September 2022 to attend university to study BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science. He is now beginning his new career as a Graduate Paramedic, but remains heavily involved with the family business.

He is currently the Associate Director at Smiles, where he is mainly responsible for the holiday club, while also overseeing many of the general business operations behind the scenes. He has recently completed his Level 4 Award in Nursery Management and holds a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare, alongside various training, including Paediatric First Aid, Spotting the Sick Child, Safeguarding Children for Designated Safeguarding Leads, Children's Playwork, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Early Years, Behaviour Management, and Level 3 Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCo).

Rebekah Moreton Hemmings

Playleader

As Playleader, Rebekah leads the delivery of play activities, ensuring children are safe, supported, and engaged in a fun, stimulating environment.

Rebekah moved to Quorn from Lancashire in 2019, bringing over 20 years of experience in Early Years and Early Help. She has held various roles, including Family Support Worker, Nursery Manager, Outreach Team Leader, and Early Help & Support Manager, achieving Outstanding from Ofsted inspections and building strong community relationships.

With a deep understanding of safeguarding, Rebekah has delivered parenting packages, conducted quality audits, and worked closely with a wide range of professionals. She is now excited to contribute to the Smiles Team, creating an environment where young people feel valued, supported, and engaged.

Rebekah is committed to fostering a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and develop to their full potential.

Outside of work, Rebekah is married with two children. The family enjoys spending time with friends in the village, exploring new places, and attending music concerts.

Alice Hall

Senior Leader

As Senior Leader, Alice supports the smooth running of the club, ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing, helping implement activities, and assisting with the day-to-day management of the setting.

Alice lives in Sileby with her partner Max and their dog Dougie. In her spare time, she enjoys going for walks, looking after her horse Rosalyn, catching up with friends, and spending time with her little family.

Alice has worked in the childcare sector since leaving school, with experience in nursery settings, a local primary school, and as a nanny. After a short break, she is thrilled to be back and is excited to be part of the Smiles team as Senior Leader.

She holds an NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) and has attended various training programs, including Understanding Autism, Paediatric First Aid, EYFS, Mental Health and Young People, Keeping Children Safe in Education, and Safeguarding Children for Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Alice is passionate about being part of the Smiles family and looks forward to helping children grow and flourish.

Charlotte Phillips

Play Assistant

As Play Assistant, Charlotte helps the team by ensuring children are supervised in a safe environment and actively involved in fun, engaging play.

Charlotte lives in Mountsorrel with her family and two pet dogs, Pippa and Rosie. She is currently studying drama, biology, and geography at Rawlins Post-16.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys dancing and practicing musical theatre at her theatre school, where she also helps out with the younger members while pursuing her passion for musical theatre.

Charlotte previously volunteered at Smiles for just under a year and has also worked in a hair salon, assisting customers. She enjoys taking care of children and is dedicated to creating a safe space for them to enjoy. In the future, Charlotte hopes to attend university and pursue a career in the performing arts.

Charlotte is excited to be a part of the Smiles team and looks forward to contributing to the fun, positive environment for the children.

Natalie Allingham

Playworker

As Playworker, Natalie supports children’s play, ensuring they are supervised in a safe, engaging environment where they can have fun and interact with others.

Natalie is a mum to three children, aged 4, 8, and 10. In her spare time, she enjoys doing arts and crafts and swimming.

After taking a career break in 2020 to focus on her family, Natalie transitioned into childcare and early years education. She has worked in a preschool setting and as a swimming teacher, and she is currently completing an apprenticeship in Early Years Education with Rawlins Under 5s Playgroup. As part of her role, she has recently completed first aid and safeguarding courses to ensure she provides the best care and support for children.

Before her career break, Natalie worked with Leicestershire Police, where she became a Police Officer and later qualified as a Detective Constable.

Having been familiar with the club through her daughter’s attendance, Natalie has always had a warm impression of the club and looks forward to contributing to its success.

Gabriella Reid

Play Assistant

As Play Assistant, Gabriella supports the team to ensure children are safely supervised and engaged in enjoyable activities, contributing to a fun and safe environment.

Gabriella lives in Quorn with her family and her rabbits, Jupiter and Luna. She is currently studying A Levels in Art Textiles, Film Studies, and History at Rawlins Post-16. At school, Gabriella volunteers in a year 8 history class, helping students with their work and encouraging their love for history.

In her spare time, Gabriella enjoys reading, designing clothes, and making them. She also sails on the weekends, where she sails various types of boats, including Monohulls, Catamarans, and Daysailers.

Gabriella is Prevent and Safeguarding trained, as well as trained in Paediatric First Aid.

In the future, Gabriella plans to take a gap year, during which she hopes to secure an internship in the fashion industry, followed by some travel and a position with CampAmerica.

Gabriella is excited to be part of the Smiles team and looks forward to contributing to the positive and fun environment for the children.

Olivia Kirk

Cover Play Assistant

As Cover Play Assistant, Olivia steps in to support the team, making sure children are well-supervised and participating in fun, interactive activities as needed.

Olivia lives in Quorn with her family and their two miniature dachshunds. She is currently studying A-Levels in English Literature, French, and History at Rawlins. Olivia volunteers as a Right to Read Mentor at school, helping younger students develop their literacy skills and love of reading.

In her spare time, Olivia enjoys musical theatre, both performing and watching musicals, as well as attending live music gigs. She also volunteers at Quorn Library, supporting and being an active member of the local community.

Olivia was previously a Play Assistant at Smiles, but took a step back to focus on her studies. Despite this, she still provides cover when needed.

Olivia is Safeguarding and Prevent trained. In the future, she plans to attend university to study History and continue developing her French language skills. She enjoys being a member of the Smiles team and looks forward to contributing more when she can.
