About our Holiday Club

Our Holiday Club gives children a safe, friendly place to spend their school holidays, with plenty of variety, space to play and opportunities to make new friends. We welcome primary school children aged 4–11 from Quorn and the surrounding areas, and each day we aim to create a balance of fun, freedom and support.

We first launched the Holiday Club in summer 2023, and it quickly became an important part of what we do at Smiles. Families have asked us to return season after season — they tell us children enjoy the freedom, variety and fun we offer, and many come back year after year to join their friends and make new memories. With spacious indoor areas, a large activity hall, sports courts, grass fields and a woodland Forest School, there’s plenty of room for children to play, explore and feel at home.

What makes the Holiday Club different is the variety we offer. Our programme is built around five themes, which run across the day and give children plenty of choice:

Sports & Movement

From football and cricket to dodgeball, table tennis, obstacle courses and more, we offer a wide range of energetic games to suit every interest and ability — all with an emphasis on teamwork, fun and inclusion.

We balance this with time to relax and recharge too. Alongside the themed activities, children always have the chance for free play and quieter options like Lego, board games, reading and small world play, so they can choose how to spend their time and unwind when they need it.

Behind the fun is a team who care deeply about every child’s experience. The Holiday Club is led day-to-day by Lucy, national Club Worker of the Year 2024 at the Out of School Club Awards (OSCAs). Her warmth, creativity and passion for play make every day special. Lucy is supported by Harvey, our Associate Director, who launched the Holiday Club in 2023 and continues to oversee quality, safeguarding and long-term planning, and by Rachel, our Managing Director, who founded Smiles and continues to guide its ethos and standards. Together with our playleaders, playworkers and sports coaches, they bring energy, consistency and heart to everything we do.

Our commitment to quality has been recognised nationally, with awards for safeguarding, leadership and team excellence. But what matters most is how children feel while they’re here: safe, happy, inspired and excited to come back. Parents tell us their children go home buzzing with stories, new skills and new friends — and for us, that’s the greatest recognition of all.

At Smiles Holiday Club, every day is an adventure. We’d love for your child to join us — get in touch today to arrange a visit and see what makes our holidays so special.

Creative Arts & Crafts

Children can get hands-on with painting, sculpture, junk modelling, collage, seasonal crafts and large-scale group projects, giving them the space to express themselves and explore their creativity.

Baking & Cooking

Whether it’s baking cupcakes, decorating biscuits or trying simple, themed recipes, our food activities are fun, rewarding and always popular with our young chefs!

Perform & Imagine

We encourage imagination and confidence through drama, dance, gymnastics, dressing up, roleplay and even talent shows — perfect for children who love to perform or simply explore new ways to play.

Explore & Discover

With access to our own outstanding forest school as well as local outings to the parks nature walks, shops and even the ice cream van, children can connect with the outdoors and enjoy small adventures in a safe, exciting way.

Relax & Recharge

Sometimes, children just need time to be — and we provide that too. From Lego and small world play to quiet spaces for reading, board games or simply winding down, we create balance throughout the day.
